A Message from the NYNOG Board of Directors

Attendees, Speakers, Sponsors, and Hosts, we would like to thank you for your continued support in helping make NYNOG events fun, educational, and successful addition to our community.

Without you, there would be no NYNOG and that is why it is important to continue to evolve with our community first in mind. We want NYNOG events to be inclusive and open to everyone; a place where you can share a beer with a colleague, learn from each other, find a mentor, and hear from top networking experts about the latest technologies and trends.  With this in mind, we knew we needed to make some changes to handle the increased interest in our community.

At the end of 2018, we got together to brainstorm and think about new ways to build upon the NYNOG  foundation to further benefit our growing community. As providing a high level of educational content is our number one priority, we knew we needed to advance our meetup architecture. As such, we're excited to share with you a new format for this year's events. This year we're announcing that we will focus on two types of event structures: Education and Community.

Education events will consist of presentations and panels, focusing on deep technical content. We will allocate more time for content, followed by networking with your peers and enjoying food and beverages.

We are aiming to host these in environments with classroom seating to increase the focus on our speakers. We also will move to an approval based registration system for Education events. These events will have some restrictions, allowing those in technical roles, such as Network Engineers, Architects, Sales Engineers, and Operators to have the first opportunity to attend when seating is limited. Our first Education event is scheduled for March 14th.

Community is our second new event structure. These events will be similar to NYNOG events in the past, only a little larger in terms of audience.  We will have a single speaker or panel, and then a bit more time for networking. We aim to have a Community event in June and another in early December.

We hope you're with us for 2019 and we look forward to growing the community together.

We welcome any and all feedback.  You can email us any time at hello@nynog.org.
